Consultation Bouwtafel Waterzuinige Wijken

Working together to solve the drinking water shortage

This month, the second administrative meeting took place, where the collaborating partners of the Construction Table met again. During the meeting, the challenge of saving drinking water was once again emphasized, and the achieved results were discussed.

Under the banner of the Construction Table for Water-Efficient Neighborhoods, 45 partners—including municipalities, developers, housing corporations, provinces, and drinking water companies—are working together to implement water-efficient residential areas on a large scale. This collaboration responds to the increasing demand for drinking water caused by climate change, population growth, and economic development. The goal: making water-efficient construction the national standard in building projects.

The Construction Table has already achieved significant results. Thanks to the cooperation, building blocks have been developed for a scalable approach, such as an overview of available resources, relevant laws and regulations, and financial analyses of various techniques. In addition, a major Dutch contractor will begin constructing five water-efficient neighborhoods. In these neighborhoods, the Joosten JustNimbus rainwater system will be applied.

In 2025, the Construction Table will continue putting these results into practice.
