Joosten and EWB collaborate on sustainable rainwater purification and storage

Collaboration between Joosten and EWB

Challenges with flooding, drought, and drinking water shortages dominate our daily news. With solutions such as infiltration systems and water buffering—sometimes combined with sewer disconnection—Joosten Groep is already at the forefront. But what if we could also purify the captured rainwater?

We are taking the next step together with startup Ecologisch Water Beheer (EWB). EWB’s Rain Shell system enables the storage and purification of runoff rainwater from organic pollutants, heavy metals, mineral oils, and PAHs. This is achieved using natural, circular, and renewable materials: shells and minerals. By not only storing but also purifying rainwater, it becomes suitable for reuse in a variety of household and industrial applications. Additionally, safe infiltration is possible in nature reserves, groundwater protection areas, and for deep infiltration.

The collaboration gives EWB Circular Rain the opportunity for scaling up, further development, and optimization of its systems.

The collaboration gives EWB Circular Rain the opportunity to scale up, further develop, and optimize its systems. In addition to existing partnerships with various design firms, EWB now also has access to the expertise of the technical specialists from the Joosten IDeA (Innovation, Sustainability, and Advice) team. For Joosten Groep, this represents an important expansion and addition to their existing systems. Together, we are now able to design and deliver comprehensive solutions for the most challenging projects and diverse clients.

But most importantly, this collaboration allows us to make real progress in sustainable and integrated rainwater management, enabling us to have a meaningful impact on our living environment.
