Frisian N359 made safer with new underpasses

The Province of Friesland aims to make the N359 safer for both motor vehicle and bicycle traffic. BAM Infra won the ‘Best Value’ tender and, together with Geotec Solutions, designed three grade-separated crossings.

JOOSTEN CONCEPTS BUILDS REINFORCED SOIL STRUCTURE
Joosten Concepts was commissioned to supply and install the geogrid-anchored concrete walls for the elevation of the viaduct. This construction method requires no temporary formwork, allowing the entire elevation to be completed in a single operation. As a result, construction time and traffic disruption are significantly reduced. The concrete wall is founded on a reinforced structure built using the ‘Omslag Method’.
Not one, but three
The entire project consists of three underpasses, each with its own challenges.
